Position-Sensing or “Smart” Hydraulic Cylinder
Nearly all of Energy Manufacturing’s fluid power hydraulic cylinders can be provided with an electronic position-sensing option. Such units are also referred to as electro-hydraulic control, or “Smart” cylinders. This sensing is accomplished with technologies proven by many years of application / field experience and success.
Both internal and external position-sensing designs are available. Accuracy as high as +/- .008 inches (+/- .2 mm) can be provided, depending on cylinder stroke length and other application and design parameters. In addition, new sensor technology is available that provides the following features and benefits:
Unchanged Center-To-Center Retracted Distance in Many Applications
Environmental Packages to Meet IP69K Water Intrusion Resistance
Working Pressures to 9,000 psig (620 bar)
Stroke Lengths from 2.5 inches (6.35 cm) to in Excess of 15 feet (4.57 m)

In addition to the position-sensing option, available cylinder features include:
• Single-acting, double-acting and ram-type designs
• Standard bores from 1 inch (2.54 cm) to 10 inch (25.4 cm); other sizes available
• Standard rod diameters from .625 inch (1.59 cm) to 6 inch (15.24 cm); other sizes available
• Standard strokes to 15 feet (4.57 m); longer strokes available
• A wide variety of mounting configurations and end mechanisms
• A variety of integral valves
• SAE ORB, NPTF and other porting configurations available
• Special housing and rod materials and for corrosive or hostile environments
• Stop tubes, cushions, and external fluid lines
• Various packing, seal, and wiper materials for optimum performance and life in the customer’s application
• Various surface treatments and finishes for optimum performance and life in the customer’s application
